About me
Nanci Carol Ruby, SAG-AFTRA, AEA, Women in Film-LA, Visiting Theatre Professor at Pepperdine University, former Faculty at Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. Nanci Carol trains actors and directors in the power of co-creation and the brilliance of exploration through play. She enjoys watching former students play roles on Broadway, on regional stages, and on screens large and small. She holds an MFA in Theatre Performance from The Theatre School at DePaul University where she studied Shakespeare with Christine Adaire and in workshop with Sir Barbara Gaines of the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. Nanci Carol Ruby’s screenplay, SUNSHINE HOUSE, has garnered laurels from multiple film festivals including 2023 Catalina Festival, LA International Diversity Initiative, and First Prize Comedy Screenplay in the Film Crash Festival. In November 2025, with permission from The New Press and the Studs Terkel Estate, Nanci Carol directed her own adaptation of Studs Terkel’s “The Good War” at the Lisa Smith Wengler Center for the Arts, featuring Pepperdine student actors and renowned professional actor, Drew Powell (The Pitt, Gotham.)
